The Forest Service has closed a portion of the BWCA due to the Spice Lake Fire. From what I can tell, new reservations are not being allowed for the following entry points:

  • 74 - Kek Trail West

  • 25 - Moose Lake

  • 54 - Seagull Lake

  • 55 - Saganaga

  • 56 - Kek Trail East

  • 27 - Snowbank Lake

I think existing permit holders can still enter at the entry points (cannot enter the closure area, though). However, the Forest Service is encouraging them to seek alternative experiences.

The best source of information on the fire and the closure order is Inciweb. Inciweb includes all of the relevant documents, including the closure order, a map of the closure area, FAQ from the FS, photos, videos, and other helpful things. Watch Inciweb for updates.
