This site worked reasonably well for us given the conditions. We picked it over the one on the SW corner of the island due to bugs. The SW site was a complete no go with horrendous swarms of mosquitoes and no way for a breeze to move them away. This site is exposed to the east and the winds were mostly easterly in some fashion during our visit. This allowed us to sit out on the big rock in front of camp and keep the mosquitoes at bay. There were limited hammock options that captured some of the breeze. Also limited trees to hang a bear bag. We ended up with a marginal bear hang about 8-9 feet off the ground. The sand bottom at the landing allowed for us to get in the water everyday to escape the unseasonable heat. A painted turtle came ashore one evening and appeared to be looking for a nesting place. I would stay here again if the conditions were similar.

Nice site for a small group. Would have a beach landing if the waters weren't so high for us. Fire grate is pretty exposed, but the whole front of camp has a great view. Latrine is in direct sight of one of the tent pad options. Luckily we didn't have enough tents to make that an issue. 2-3 decent hammocking spots. There is an established (sort of) trail that leads to a rock outcrop behind camp. Incredible views of most of SAK here. Worth the stop for that alone if you aren't doing the Thunder Point hike. This camp is pretty rocky overall - borderline dangerous when it's wet out. There are probably better spots on the lake than this one, but we still had a fantastic time.

Stayed here many years ago (1982?) with a group of boys. I remember really liking this site. Hi over the water.

Wonderful eastern view. Very young trees with limited options for hanging bear bags; lost a food back to a local black bear - hang carefully.

Nice site with a great view and a trail up to the top of the hill with an even better view.
