BWCA Campsite 2040 on Knife

Great site! Amazing view.

Decent, wide, gravelly landing. To get to the site it is a steep but short climb with good rock and root footholds. The site is elevated around 10' above the lake. Lots of big trees for shade, tarps and close-lines. Decent kitchen area with okay logs. Firewood wasn't a problem to find. The view is due south so it gets warm and sunny, dries out quickly, and has a nice breeze off the lake on hot days. Beautiful view, like a mountain lake. Good swimming area that deepens to about waist-deep then drops off sharply. Didn't catch any fish in the 15 minutes I tried from shore, but did see some little smallies swimming by and saw fish jumping out from shore. The two good tent pads are secluded and on grass/dirt, both could easily accommodate 4 people. Other tent pads can be found as this site is quite large and open. Good path to the latrine. This site is close to the site to the west, but we didn't hear much more than a couple of loud laughs and clanging pots from the people camped there. If I was in the area again I would seek out this site.

Lovely site. Not much flat ground, but nice and open with big cedars and pines and has a nice ambiance about it. Hammock options are decent as long as you don't have a big tarp. Nice open area for fishing from shore, didn't have issues with pollen or cotton. Decent landing, was able to get 3 people in without getting wet as long as you position the canoe carefully. If I find myself around here again I'll definitely try to get this site.

I agree with the previous review by justincarl. Very nice large site. The tent pads are small and close to each other and there are ample hammock options. Although the site is large, it would be tough to find a spot for a large tent do to the slope, trees and large roots. We did very well fishing around the area but only caught a few smallmouth from the campsite.
