BWCA Campsite 294 on Cummings

Excellent sandy beach landing. The kitchen and view is just okay. Pretty shallow all around the site.There are better sites on this lake. But some of the best swimming I've ever experienced.

The campsite is in an open red pine stand covering the entire peninsula. You could put tents just about anywhere on the peninsula. The kitchen, for some reason, is located at the lowest point next to a boggy area (the only part of the site I didn't like). I would imagine the kitchen could get buggy because of this. The landing, which is right next to the kitchen, has a small sandy area. The bay next to the kitchen/landing is sheltered, shallow, and sandy-bottomed. The latrine is in an interesting spot - just over the top of the hill leading away from the kitchen. It is in the open pines, so I would probably feel exposed while doing my business (even though you can't see it from the kitchen). We caught a few bass off the tip of the peninsula.
