i like this bay area and inlet to the river that feeds Seagul. Much quieter than the rest of the lake.

My wife says you can't put a rating on nature. I disagree. My rating is two stars - one and a half for the campsite, another half star for the view (which is quite good). If you are a mountain goat, have a bivvy sack, and a bear canister, this site may be five stars. In twenty or thirty years, when the trees have matured, this may be a decent site. But right now, let me paint a picture: The landing is one of those granite slabs that extends down past the water's edge - difficult to land, unload, and relaunch. Up a very slick, steep, rocky ledge is the kitchen. Past that, up on an elevation that makes one worry about the lightning potential of any storms, is a small grassy area that apparently is a tent pad. Be prepared with paracord and a few rocks to "stake" out some of the tent corners (we used three rocks). It seems like the tent pad area could be larger, but 6' tall trees have grown up in the rest of the flattish area. If that doesn't dissuade you, there's the path to the toilet. It's down a 5' steep rock face, followed by a path of grass that is sure to soak you with the morning dew or any recent rainfall. This path is also the location of the only bear hang I could find - off a dead branch on a sickly looking tree. It held for us. I'm not sure if it'll hold for you. But the view is great - straight down the bay towards the portage to Seagull. So while you are drying off from sliding into the water after trying to pump some clean water, enjoy the view. It's worth it. And make a plan to come back in twenty or thirty years once the trees have grown a bit and there's less brush and more paths around the campsite. As for the current year, we chose this site to escape some bad weather. It worked. But I'd look for another site if possible.
