It is a beautiful site with a perched rock and room for swimming. I'm giving a low rating because it's just so overused. This is one of those sites that gets filled most every day of the summer. It's right across from the portage which leads to lots of traffic. I wouldn't like to stay here if given the choice, but lots of folks seek it out.

This is the first site you come to when using EP47 so it is worn out. It gets a lot of use from those that want the BWCA experience without having to work too hard for it. It's a good place to stay if you get a late start entering and it happens to be available or if you want to exit early the next morning. It has a rock base so if you have a free standing tent that will help. We were the first people to stay here for the 2019 paddling season and much of the low area was flooded making it hard to get to the latrine. The fire grate was also pulled out of the ground and laying on the ground. The trees have a lot of hatchet marks, much of the bark has been peeled away, and there was a LOT of trash and debris left from the previous season. I have paddled past this site many times so I know how much traffic there is being across from the EP portage. I wouldn't stay here again unless it was the only option.

Great views and a good spot to stop on your way in or out of the BW, if you're limiting travel on your first or last day. As others have said, the main site is rock, which limits staking of tents, etc. Limited in-site trees for a tarp, etc. In good weather, the site is fine. In rain, the water collects and pools in several places due to the rock base.

Nice spot, unfortunately heavily used and close to portage and another campsite. We landed here in the evening when no one else would be coming down the portage and no one was at the other campsite, so it was quiet--until the morning when the portage traffic was noisy again. No good bear tree evident and no easy firewood. Previous tenants had left trash on the ground and in firepit. Good trees for hanging hammocks near firepit, large open area for tents near firepit and lake view but exposed to portage traffic. landing on west was difficult, landing on east is better. Points off for traffic, would put at a 2.5 star

This site is right across the lake from portage into Lizz. There are no trees to hand a bear bag and the firewood situation is pretty bleak but it sets on a great point facing north and it has a great view of the lake to he west. We stayed here two nights.

Mostly open campsite on a rock. While most of the campsite is in the sun, the tent pads are shaded. However, since it is on a rock, you cannot stake the tents in very well. On a west-facing point, so the wind can keep the bugs away. Two different landings. One is on the west side and is a sloping rock. The shape of it made landing a little difficult, but I've had worse. The other is on the east side of the site and is a narrow, shallow entry. It looked promising, but I tried it once and went back to using the west-side entry. Swimming was fun. We jumped out the front of the campsite. If you jump far enough, it is deep enough that you won't touch. There is a rock just below the surface a little to the northwest that we swam to and had fun on. The only complaint I had about the site was that it was impossible to find a hanging tree for the food pack. I eventually was able to get it above the ground, but I was under no illusions that it would be safe from bears. We had 5 kids with us, and overall, it was a great site for them.
