Site was trashed. Burned and unburned food in fire grate. cans and plastic bottles spread all around. We cleaned it up sort of- moved garbage far back into woods with a big pile of garbage that was already there. That said, this was the best site compared to the other two we looked at on North/South Fowl.

Spent a night here as the staging point for our Grand Portage run. The site itself is pretty good. It faces south, and is more on the southern point than shown here. The landing is a little rocky, but it has a good view of the cliffs on the south side of South Fowl with a nice rock ledge for southern star gazing. Most of the site is fairly open to sunlight. The major drawback was the litter. We found 5 socks, a microfiber towel, sunscreen bottle, a life jacket, and a bunch of micro-litter. It was pretty obvious the leave no trace ethic has been widely ignored here, which was sad. I would love to return and clean this up a bit because the site would be a winner with a little love.
