This site may not be great on paper, but it's special. It's off the main drag and has gorgeous rocks and overlooks.

You can catch as many 18-22 inch Northerns as you want in this lake. Some good SMB too. The site itself is perfectly acceptable for a small group. Two solid tent pads and a good kitchen area. The landing is a little slippery but there is a good loading area to the right of the landing that worked fine for us. The solitude of the lake really adds a star in my book. We were here for two days and never saw anyone. This was a very pretty lake as well.

Ogishkemuncie was full and after 5 portages we needed to do one more to this remote spot. The protage was shallow going in and with the low water very muddy. Tuff on the other end also as very slippery rock. All three of us carring canoes slipped dropping in. The site was fine and nice and private, but watch out for the blood suckers at the shallow water just in front of the rock on either side. They are very agressive. Even some small and clear ones. It was bad.

We stopped in while exploring the area. We spent the week basecamping on Ogishkemuncie Lake. The canoe landing space was ample, but the rock was very slippery. Check out this video of our stop: [link]

Nice private option if you arrive on Ogishkemuncie late (all sites full) as we did. The landings on Spice side of the portage can be treacherous in spots. Fishing quite good for mostly small to medium northerns and bass. A couple portaged in while we were there, and caught a bass that was surely over 6 pounds! Great day trip options from here. Nice overlook of lake just behind site, with blueberries in season.

Stayed here with a group of 8. It was fun to "have our own lake". Only stayed 1 night. Very nice site. Caught some fish near the north east side but didn't keep any. I would visit again if I were in the area in the future.

Decent site, was nice to have our own lake. Stayed here 4 nights, only saw one other canoe on the lake.
