When going north to Irregular, the portage starts in a floating bog for the first 200m. The rest of the portage is up and down along granite ridges. This half of the portage was burned in 2021 but is still in good condition and only required a few trees to be cut out of the way. The trail is marked with rock cairns and now tree blazes to mark the irregular entrance.
