The 2021 fire also burned this portage and left many black standing dead trees. The entrance on the east side is hard to find since the lack of use has not defined the take out. It is easier to find now with tree blazes and orange flagging tape. I cleaned up about 500 m of the trail when going west and marked the trail. The last 100 m at the west end is a mess with many large trees down that require a chainsaw or a very ambitious person with a handsaw and lots of time. Look for the orange flagging tape once around these trees if you are going east.
