Fairly tough portage with some mud and roots as you would expect going through Howl Swamp. Map is not accurate as it shows the portage all the way to Hubbub Lake. You have to paddle a short distance across howl and then load up again. Going from west to east the unload area is very tight and the forementioned mud and roots don't help. However, a really cool and unique portage. It is great getting to a remote part of the BWCA This was our second day out of 5 straight of not seeing anyone else.
