Quite steep and rather challenging start or end at Sturgeon lake. Fair amount of elevation change trough the portage.

Not bad. Some elevation...western landing was tough because the water was a meter high...

A typical rough portage for this part of the park. PP does not show the portage to the north at the falls, as my Fisher map does. We looked and looked and couldn't find the portage to the north. It is probably faded away because you ought to just be using this one!

This portage involves a pretty good climb coming from either end (although more pronounced coming from Russell) but is pretty well travelled with no significant obstacles.
