Twisty, with some up and down, some mucky sections (mostly dry when I went through), and a couple of bouldery sections. It seemed like there was always something to slow you down, and you could never get up to speed. Harder than average overall.

Darky River Portage is a rock strewn, long haul. My old Fisher Map puts it at 182 rods but it is much longer at 262.4 rods according to my GPS measurement of the actual trail. Nice falls to rest at about 3/4 the way from the Darky Lake side. The trail was pretty beat up from a recent storm but the Portage Maintenance guys did a good job of clearing the many trees crossing the trail.
