This portage proved to be a little more intimidating than I anticipated. Much news was made of the hazards of the big rapids like Basswood Falls and Curtain Falls this year with high water. I had even heard stories from friends who had to land way before portages to avoid calamity. This wasn't anywhere near that bad, and a month later, but there were actual standing waves on the north end which proved a bit intimidating to handle solo from a push-off portage landing. It ended up being fun and the Explorer was more than up to the task. Just shoot on out and enjoy the adventure.
