We climbed up and enjoyed lunch on the Canadian cliff campsite next to the portage. It's a beautiful view down the lake from there. The east end of this portage is a mucky mess as one looks out through the reed bed into the Fowls.

it got really muddy and slippery due to high water level. A lot of standing water on the portage.

The water was down quite a bit, and coming out of North Fowl we had 40 feet of muck to pull the canoe through. The kind of muck that sucks your feet down by 10-12 inches.

Heading east along this portage was mostly downhill. Once arriving at North Fowl, we had to wade a little bit out into wild rice to get the canoe floating.
