Both landings have a cairn to mark this portage. The east end of this portage has many cairns to mark the way as it travels over rock faces. The east end also is very swampy and will certainly get your shoes nice and soaked. The west end is a giant rock face and has a nice vista of Stuart. The trail is relatively easy to follow.
