Lots of wind! Fun to see bears but I'd rather not have them in camp. You were pretty calm, I might have used my bear spray to scare it off for my own benefit and for future campers. Which solo canoe did you take? After using it for the week did you still feel like it was tippy? Paddling in the dark...only once and I didn't like it. Good for you being confident in your map and compass skills. Glad the first site was open!

Yep, that was my first solo trip, but not my last. I loved it, though I discovered I do like some human contact. The bear was so small that it was not intimidating at all. It seemed more like a large dog than a bear. Paddling in the dark was definitely different. I don't think I would have done that if I had not been there a few times before. I was sure glad the site was open, too!
