My brother and I are planning this eight-day Temagami trip and would appreciate feedback from people familiar with the area. We are both fit and have completed several multi-day canoe and portage trips before, mainly in Algonquin. We will be paddling a tandem canoe and expect to single-carry most portages.

The full route is about 147 km of paddling, plus approximately 12 km of portages. Day 3 includes an out-and-back hike to Maple Mountain.

Planned schedule

For Day 4, we are considering camping near Cabin Falls, preferably Bridal Veil Falls, with Fat Man’s Falls as a fallback if the earlier sites are occupied.

Our main questions are:

• Does the daily distance and portage distribution look realistic, or would you change any of the overnight locations or daily splits?

• Are there any difficult-to-find, overgrown or especially challenging portages?

• Which campsites would you recommend, especially around Bridal Veil/Fat Man’s Falls, Wakimika Lake, the Northwest Arm and Wasaksina Lake?
