Today is the day! All BWCA permits go on sale in less than 30 minutes. What trips do you have planned this year?

We grabbed a permit for Brant Lake EP #52 for June 9th. We'll almost certainly do a couple other trips but haven't decided on the when or where yet.

How about you?

With my newfound summer freedom (I'm not teaching in the summer) and living close to the BWCA (moved to Duluth last August), I'll probably be going quite a bit. I'm not planning any specific trips yet, so I didn't get any permits. Whenever the bug bites me, I'll head up there with my 7-year-old son to a random entry point. Having the Duluth Pack Store close by also makes it easy to pick up permits.

There is one that I will plan, though. Every year my wife and I make sure we take one trip without the kids. We like going to the Quetico. We've never tried one of the southern entry points, so maybe we'll do that this year.

Got a permit for #25 for August.  Will also be camping out of Sawbill and making day trips over the 4th of July and Labor Day weekend.  Then I will have a solo trip in September or October.

Someday I'll add NHAL to the site so your pictures will have some place to go

Sewed up our permit for Entry #37 for September. There will be four of us heading to Malberg and back hitting lakes along the way.

Have you considered the Flowages as well, in particular the Turtle-Flambeau?

No We started out from Sawbill in 2014 and only made it to Hazel. So this year we are going to Malberg and back, so we can see what we missed in 2014.
My friend Eric and I are the planners and we add two more to make it a foursome. We find that four make a nice trip. We have been canoeing together now for 20 yrs.

Is something on this route I should be aware of?

Nothing out of the ordinary I would say-- if you want to read my trip report, we did that trek back in June. I may be doing it again this year as the views are amazing.... but, where aren't they in the BWCA?

I can definitely recommend this route. I've done the sections between Sauk City and Spring Green a bunch and plan to hit the rest in the next couple of years. If you're a fisherman I can recommend some spots along the route for catching walleyes.

I'd also love to see NHAL and Turtle-Flambeau make this site (I'm sure they'll be used more than the everglades or Yellowstone)wink ON WISCONSIN!!
