The Ely Marathon has a unique division - portaging. If a marathon is not challenging enough, do it with a canoe. My wife, Auralee, is the first and only woman to complete it (as far as I know). You can see the finish in the video we uploaded to Facebook - Finishing the Portage Marathon.

I participated in the half marathon portage relay, so I ran 2 miles. I was tired and sore from just that. I can't imagine what a full 26.2 miles feels like.

Awesome, way to go!!  My wife and I were lucky enough to be stopped on the Echo Trail (on our way to our entry point) to watch and cheer at the starting line of last years race.  Looks like a great time, we may have to sign up one of these years and join in on the fun.
