Is it best to enter Iron Lake via Bottle River or Entry Point 43?
Thoughts! Suggestions!

I've only entered Iron from Basswood via Prairie Portage and exited via LLC and EP 14 LIS. I don't think you mean EP 43 but I could be confused.

I have never done it, but I think the usual route is the Bottle River. You can even get a tow right up to the portage on LLC.

Bottle portage gets you into Iron in one trip, it has a high option and a low one that can be pretty wet (we tried both). The Bottle river looked like it would take longer to cross the rapids/rocks than the portage. EP 43 would be a nice trip and you get to see Rebecca falls as you enter Iron, a few short portages from 43 vs one longer portage at Bottle. Great camp site at 3 mile island west end (1839).

What lake is 3 mile island located in.

Its on Iron on the east side and is actually named Three Island, there is a larger island named Four. The camp site is less than a mile south of Rebecca Falls.
