Hello all - new to the forum, have been to BWCA four times but always under the aegis of an experienced group from SD. This will be the first time for me, my sister, and her son/my nephew on our own. We have a permit to enter by Lake One, also new to me. The map appears to show two potential ways to proceed: one would be up to the northeast followed by a sharp turn south and into the lake; the other would be due south and over two portages into the lake. Which would be better? And any other advice about Lakes One, Two and Three. Thank you all.

The easier one would be to go north. I don't think many people take the portages.

I think it might be useful if traveling through, not entering or exiting at the entry point. Avoids some possibly rocky lining - which might be preferred by some to portaging.
