In the outfitters filter of BWCA is "tow" defined as when your brought across the lake with canoes on racks and dropped off and "shuttle" pertaining to vehicle transport?

Yes. Some of the ones marked as offering tow boats contract with other tow boat operators, but you can book tow boats through them. Edited by user Friday, July 4, 2025 11:07:07 AM(UTC)

Just back from an Adirondack trip but yes to tow question. In BWCA I believe shuttle usually refers to moving you and your gear in the outfitters vehicle. Typically dropping off or picking up at an entry point and returning you to your vehicle. I have not heard of much moving of trippers vehicles in BWCA. Shuttle vehicles seems common in Adirondacks, but more trails and fewer opportunities for out and back. Hope that helps.
