I have sent Ben the waypoints and portage/bushwhack tracks for a trip I did in 2023. The picture shows our path on the most interesting part of the trip. Stew Frelke and I basically bushwhacked from kawnipi Lake to Mack Lake using Devine Creek. The round orange waypoint is where we found a panel that I think had a pictograph on it. It is so faded if it was a pictograph it could never be verified. There is a trip report published in the summer 2024 issue of the Boundary Waters Journal. The title is “A Devine Bushwhack” MagicPaddler

Is that the remains of a pictograph?

This sounds like an incredible adventure! Bushwhacking through Kawnipi to Mack Lake via Devine Creek, especially with the added intrigue of a potential pictograph, really captures the spirit of exploration. I'm looking forward to reading "A Devine Bushwhack" in the Boundary Waters Journal. It’s always fascinating to see how paths unfold in the wilderness, sometimes feeling like a continuous Slope Unblocked by trails.

That has been a few years back. Stew and I have completed an equally challenging bushwhack each year since that.

This thread has been resurrected by AI pushing a website. That said, I agree with the first part of the AI sentiment, MagicPaddler. Your adventure does sound incredible! I came at Mack from Saganagons, but it is super intriguing to think that you may have found a picto that isn't widely known while on your bushwhack.
