I have sent Ben the waypoints and portage/bushwhack tracks for a trip I did in 2023. The picture shows our path on the most interesting part of the trip. Stew Frelke and I basically bushwhacked from kawnipi Lake to Mack Lake using Devine Creek. The round orange waypoint is where we found a panel that I think had a pictograph on it.  It is so faded if it was a pictograph it could never be verified. There is a trip report published in the summer 2024 issue of the Boundary Waters Journal. The title is “A Devine Bushwhack”

Is that the remains of a pictograph?

That has been a few years back. Stew and I have completed an equally challenging bushwhack each year since that.

This thread has been resurrected by AI pushing a website. That said, I agree with the first part of the AI sentiment, MagicPaddler. Your adventure does sound incredible! I came at Mack from Saganagons, but it is super intriguing to think that you may have found a picto that isn't widely known while on your bushwhack.

Eagle98mn How do you know it was resurrected by AI? Teach me to recognize it.

The next year we went from Saganagons to Mack. That is Saganagons, Ross, Home, Island and Mack. Bet you did not go that way and I don’t recommend it.

I deleted the AI message. AI has made it a little harder to recognize spam. It seemed to be a response to your story, but then it threw in a completely irrelevant link.

As Ben mentioned, the link at the end of the message was to some sort of irrelevant website. It fooled me too at first, but then I saw a few other similar posts scattered in the forum the same day and realized what was going on. At least the AI sounded interested in your trip - maybe our future AI overlords won't be of the terminator variety, and instead will encourage us to explore our interests! :)

We definitely didn't take that route to Mack, instead taking the more standard turn west out of Ross through Cullen and Munro. It was a fun trip. Thus far, my only trip in Quetico, but it didn't dissapoint!
