Quetico to Cirrus via Portage #5111

HI, I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience with entering Cirrus from Quetico via Portage #5111 (I know its muddy)? It has been at least 25 years since I have last portaged into Cirrus from Quetico (or the other way) and my memory is foggy. Once you pass by campsite #48, there is a pinch before you hit the small bay and have access to Portage #5111 and #5113. I seem to remember and obstruction in that pinch of water that we had to pull the canoe over. Has anyone been through there lately? I have also portaged #5113, is this an option, or does the water pouring out of Cirrus into Quetico not allow an easy approach to Portage #5113 when coming from the Quetico side? Thanks, Jon

If you read the user comments for both portages, you'll get the sense beauty is in the eye of beholder...opinion seems to be split as to which one is preferable to the other. My comment for #5111 is the most recent and I stand by it:

Evidence that, once again, taking the shorter portage isn't always the wise choice. Mucky and weedy on either end, and just plain mucky through the middle. We should have taken the western portage into the same bay and saved some paddling time.

Thank you for the reply bobrowicz. My main interest is if there is an obsruction in that pinch of water leading to the bay on Quetico lake that holds these portages. It may just be my memory playing tricks on me. Just after Campsites #48.

No obstruction when I was there, but water levels were good. Might get a bit crunchy in low water.
