Sylvania Wilderness 9/25-29, 2026

I am so happy to find this site! Thanks, Ben. Heading to Sylvania from AA-area end of September. Will be my first solo trip, but not my first canoe trip. This site has prepared me tremendously with details on portages and campsites. I was unprepared for limited campsite availability but did my best. Any tips on this route are appreciated. I look forward to adding reviews and photos upon my return to help other newbies to this area. (My table auto-added rows and not sure how to delete. "Cntrl-X" not deleting them.

Looks like a fun trip. Yes, that site on West Bear is a favorite. Sylvania is a great area. For your first solo trip, this looks like a good itinerary. If you are familiar with the BWCA, it is a bit different - hardwood forest instead of boreal. Also, most of the campsites are doubled up except for the West Bear one, which is why it is a favorite.
