Can anyone give me information on the Sundial PMA.  I'm planning to go from Beartrap Lake to Stuart Lake.  Then up to Iron and back through Crooked Lake.

I just found a great website for PMA information - BWCAWild.com. I found very detailed information on all of the PMA routes. Some of them even have videos and photos of the route. On the Sundial PMA page, you can click on the various routes on the map to get more information about the route and portages.

I'm not sure who is responsible for the site, but kudos to him/her! Best info I've found on PMAs so far. It appears that this is a new website with info being added regularly. Some parts are still under construction, but what is there already is great stuff.

(If the author of the site sees this, I would love to here from you!)

Thanks!!  That is a very nice site!  Great details on bushwacking.  It is motivating me to plan visiting more PMA's in the future.

This information was recently provided to me from a friend.

"coming from Crooked Lake, we went towards Iron and entered the Beartrap River. The portage has a really steep entry so be careful (kind of a b**** to get out of your canoe). It's deep right off the portage. We then went to Sunday Lake and camped at the old camp site, make sure to get your PMA permit. The Beartrap River is fairly wide & pretty. Sunday Lake again had decent fishing.
The 2nd half of the Beartrap River is tougher. It's narrower south of Sunday Lake, with lots of beaver dams (you can pull over most of them) The first portage isn't bad, just a little rough. The portage that goes to Beartrap Lake really sucks. It's long (maybe 250 rods) and since it's unkept there were lots of trees down. It's overgrown some, narrow and long .
