Has anybody been on the Horse River lately? Thinking of going that way this September

Is there a portage from Horse Lake to the northeastern finger of Jackfish Bay of Basswood Lake. I have a Fisher E-15 map that shows a dotted lines that there could be portage there, but it gives no rod measurement.

I wouldn't try it. Voyageur maps shows nothing but contour lines between Horse Lake and Jackfish Bay. But you can go from Mudro through Sandpit into the southwest end of Jackfish.

That's what I thought but I thought I would ask. If there was portage that would shorten the trip back to entry point 24.

From Horse Lake the most direct route to EP24 (Fall Lake) would be to go the southerly route as I mentioned, then NE through Jackfish Bay to the 87 rod portage into Basswood Lake. Then you do two cakewalk portages and you're done.
