...would have been much more unpleasant to portage without Our Best Yoke Pad from Arrow Auto Glass & Supply. It wraps all the way around the back of one's neck to protect it from the weight of a heavy canoe. It comes in a little expensive at $75, and it required new holes in my aluminum yoke which added a busted drill bit to my overall price. Portaging "Old Ironsides" was a snap, though! I took it over Monument Portage and a bunch of smaller (<25 rod) portages without any real trouble. It's probably not necessary for everyone, but it's a great purchase for those of us with older and heavier craft.

Our Best Yoke Pad

Arrow doesn't seem to sell them directly, but BW Catalog has them at http://www.boundarywaterscatalog.com/arrow-auto-glass-supply/our-best-yoke-pad-777

Thanks! I have the exact same canoe (may be a year or two different, but the same model).

Both of our kevlar canoes have that exact yoke pad.
