We're excited to announce some significant updates to the Route Builder that we believe will enhance your trip planning experience. Here’s a rundown of the latest features:

1. Enhanced Route Builder with River Flow Speeds

  • Our Route Builder now includes river flow speed data.
  • This feature is designed to assist in more accurate and detailed planning for river trips, taking into account the varying speeds of river currents.
  • Users can adjust the 'typical' current speed settings if they feel the pre-set data does not accurately reflect real conditions. You can do this in the Route Builder settings (same place that you set the paddling and portaging speeds).

2. Addition of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

  • We have recently added the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway to our list of navigable routes within Paddle Planner.
  • This includes the new river flow speed feature, allowing for an enhanced planning experience along this scenic waterway.

3. Seeking Community Input

  • We are looking to our community to help refine and improve these new features.
  • If you have suggestions for additional rivers to include, or feedback on the current speed data, please let us know. Your input is invaluable in making Paddle Planner as accurate and user-friendly as possible.

4. Expanded Coverage

  • We plan to extend river flow features to other areas in the future, including Wabakimi, Algonquin, and more. Stay tuned for further updates.

5. Bing Satellite Images Available

  • As part of our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive planning tools, Bing Satellite images are now available as a map background option in the settings.
