This campsite is directly in the middle of the portage between Alworth and Ima, so it is a little hard to know which lake to attach it to. I do not think portage traffic would be a major issue here because Alworth does not seem to get a lot of visitors. I absolutely loved this campsite. It sits at the top of a hill in a grove of white pines, and the setting is beautiful. The main clearing is about a 60-foot circle among the pines, with plenty of space for tents. I found four good tent pads and stopped counting all the possible places where tents could go. There are several options along the latrine trail and throughout the clearing, so I would call it nine or more maximum tent pads. The views of both lakes are partly obstructed by trees and brush, but there are little windows out to both Ima and Alworth. The fire grate faces Alworth, with a small window toward the island on that lake. This would also be a good place to ride out a storm because it is sheltered and protected. The main downside is water access. You have to use the portage ends for water and carry gear farther than at a typical campsite, but I think the setting makes it worth it.

Campsite adjacent to the portage between Ima and Alworth. Poor water access except at the portage end on Alworth side. Fire grate and camping are up somewhat steep slopes from the water. Beyond that, a decent site. Must have been some blowdown in the past few years - but a good option to escape the traffic on Ima in peak season.

Good campsite, access to both Alworth and Ima. Mosquitoes were bad due to still waters and no breeze. Kitchen and fire bowl were very nice. Tent pads were flat. Portage was blocked, trees down around the area made it diffcult to access from Ima. Use down tree for Bear bag.

This campsite is directly off the portage from Ima to Alworth lakes. Your landing is the portage itself which is crappy on the Ima side but decent on Alworth. Good tent sites with a decent kitchen area. Plenty of trees for tarps and Hammocks. Fairly protected site with the landing on the Ima site being in a small enclosed bay. Privacy could be an issue as you're directly on the portage, but I can't imagine that Alworth gets a lot of traffic with there being no through route out of it. I don't see Muzzle Lake being a prime destination point. :)
