BWCA Campsite 1277 on Ensign

This is a really nice campsite. The landing area is set a little way away from the main campsite, and there are a couple places where you can pull in canoes, almost like a two-stall canoe garage. The kitchen has a couple of large white pines over it, which gives the site a nice feel. Out in front of camp there is a great view of the lake, and there is a large boulder near the water that you can walk out on for an even better view. Near the kitchen, underneath the white pines, there are a couple of nice tent pads. There is also another open tent area down the latrine trail, though that one is close enough to the latrine that it is within view, so it is not ideal. The main tenting area near the kitchen is large and flat, and there are a few other places where tents could fit if needed. Overall, this site has a very good view, a nice kitchen setting, and solid tenting options.

Great shade, great view of the lake. Good area for smallmouth fishing.
