BWCA Campsite 1295 on Newfound

This is a decent campsite in the channel leading toward Ensign Lake, so there may be some motorboats or towboats going past on their way to the Splash Lake portage. The landing was better than many others I had visited in the area and was pretty easy to get in and out of. The fire grate is somewhat screened behind trees, but there is still a view down Newfound Lake from the kitchen area. The trees also provide some wind break if needed. I first found two main tent pads, including one large grassy pad and another near the fire grate, but then I found a couple more possible spots near the landing. One of those could be used either for canoe storage or as a tent pad, and the other is smaller and sits along the path between the landing and the kitchen. There is also a rock ledge behind the site that could make a nice place to sit in the morning or evening and get a slightly higher view.
