BWCA Campsite 1304 on Found

This campsite is right on the portage from Newfound to Found Lake. There probably is not much reason for someone to take that portage unless they are trying to stay at this site, which gives it a little more separation from the motor traffic. You may still hear motors from Newfound, but this site gives you a chance to get away from the main route. The landing is the portage landing on the Found Lake side, and it looked decent. The campsite has three good, fairly large tent pads. They are a little rocky in places, but overall they are usable, and you could probably fit up to five tents if needed. The site has some open areas and some protected areas. When I was there, a west wind was coming right through the kitchen, which was not ideal on a cold day, but it could be very nice on a hot or buggy day. There are signs of use, including bare walking areas and some cut trees, but overall I thought it was a solid, above-average site and I would not hesitate to stay here if I were in the area.

There was no fish in found lake, we only saw 2 small ones on out fish finder, the site doesn't have its own canoe landing it uses the main landing from the portage. the site is right on the portage.
