BWCA Campsite 1388 on Kiana

This is the better of the two campsites on Kiana Lake in my opinion. The landing is a grassy area with a few flat rocks, and I could either pull straight in or parallel park depending on preference. There is a little room for canoe storage near the landing, and then a trail climbs about six feet up to the kitchen. The kitchen is somewhat hidden behind brush, so it is not very obvious from the lake, but there is still a decent narrow-window view through the screening. What really sets this site apart are the tall, mature white pines throughout the campsite. They cover the site in pine duff and give it a classic feel. I found three good tent pads and four maximum tent pads. Two good pads are in the main camp area near the kitchen, and a third could fit there as well. A fourth tent could go in a small clearing off the latrine trail if needed. From the kitchen back toward the latrine, the whole site is dominated by big white pines, and that is what makes it stand out.
