BWCA Campsite 1397 on Fraser

This campsite feels somewhat similar to the site to the east, 1398, but I liked this one a little better. Tall white pines line the shore, providing shade without blocking the view, so the kitchen has an excellent view down the lake. The white pines are impressive and should provide shade throughout most of the day. There is pine duff across the campsite, and I found three good tent pads and four maximum tent pads. The best pads are not immediately obvious. There is an obvious tent pad behind the kitchen, but I think a couple of the others actually work better. The site has one spruce tree in the middle that breaks up what would otherwise be one large open area behind the shoreline pines. The landing is a little awkward, and I did not see any truly great landing option. It should work, but you may have to rock-hop a bit getting in and out. Overall, the view, shade, pine duff, and tenting make this a very nice site.
