We were windbound at the site to the south, so we decided to explore this site on foot. The take-out is one of the worst we've seen the BWCA, which probably explains why this site clearly gets less use than the one to the south. It's a steep climb up a rock to the site, with no real option other than to haul the boat all the way up. The other side of the point is mostly rocky cliff faces with large boulders at the base. The kitchen is okay. There's not much seating, but there are enough stones around the fire grate to help block the winds and keep some heat in, plus a large stone table near the log bench. The site sits upon a rocky bluff overlooking Lac La Croix. There's not much shelter, but small trees in almost every direction tend to block the view. The kitchen is quite exposed, but there is some shelter in the trees behind. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of flat space back there. Hammocks might do okay. There is some interesting wood debris down past the trail to the latrine. It looks like an old dock or boardwalk or deck, but based on how it's intertwined with some quite mature trees, it may have been there for decades. I wonder if there used to be a resort here. It was a fun place to explore, and it would make a nice lunch spot in good weather, but I wouldn't recommend it for an overnight stay.
