This campsite sits on top of a large rock dome, elevated roughly 20 feet above the water, with a great view to the west. It is also very exposed to the west, so wind could be a factor.
The best landing is on the north side of the rock dome, and from there you have to climb the rocks to get up to the campsite. The fire grate is right on top of the dome, and there is a clump of red pines in the middle of the site, with cedars around the edges.
I found one really good tent pad and a few other possible spots with issues. Behind the site, the rock dome drops off a few feet to a possible tent pad area, but when I visited, much of that area was flooded and the beginning of the latrine trail was muddy. Another possible pad looked lumpy and wet, and a couple of other spots were also either wet or uneven. I am counting two good tent pads and four maximum tent pads, but realistically only one is truly good. The campsite itself is compact and close together on top of the rock dome, but the view and the red pines give it a great feel.

One of our favorite sites, we've stayed there twice. The best landing is on the north side; you tie up your canoes and climb rocks to get up to the elevated site, which has a stunning westward view of Knife Lake and beautiful sunsets. You can pitch three tents relatively easily, but more than that could get challenging. There are four trees in a near perfect square next to the firepit, which are convenient for hanging a rain fly. A large flat rock ledge on the waterfront is great for swimming (the water depth drops quickly, so you're in deep water immediately). There's a resident bear who wasn't shy about walking into our campsite the first afternoon we arrived. North around the point there's a cliff with a great jumping spot about 30 feet above the water's surface, landing you in deep water that's at least 30 feet deep and clear of rocks. We spent many hours jumping these cliffs and cooling off on a hot summer day!
