This campsite has a poor landing but a very good view. The landing is a steep, smooth rock, and if there is any wind, it could be difficult to land the canoe. Once you get up to the site, the kitchen has a great open view of Knife Lake and sits right across from Thunder Point. Because Thunder Point is a popular hiking destination, you will probably see a lot of canoes going by. Behind the kitchen there is a large tent pad area. Two tents can fit comfortably on the flat part, and a third could go on a slightly lumpy part of the same area. Most of the trees around the site include a few younger white pines in front of the kitchen and a lot of spruce and balsam behind the site. Compared with some of the smaller lakes I had just visited, this site would look better, but for Knife Lake I would keep it as a solid, practical campsite with a great view and a challenging landing.

We overnighted at this site as many other sites we paddled past were occupied. You can string a tarp just back from the kitchen with enough line. The landing and canoe storage are poor. ~10 minute paddle from Thunder Point, which made for a nice outing the following morning before continuing along our route.

We spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed the site. There are 2 spots for hammocks in the shade, by the water overlooking Thunder Point. The swimming was nice. The views and people watching kept us very entertained. We saw 40 canoes go by throughout the day on Thurs 9/1/22. The campsite is one of the closest to Thunder Point, so we were able to time that out to have it alone for a few hours up there. Nice little site for a small group!

The campsite is really closed off, and there isn't a whole lot in the way for tent pads. It does tap into a nice hiking trail though. We just stopped here for a snack, unfortunately every site to the West was full which made for a long night after.
