I liked this campsite more than previous reviewers seemed to. It is true that there is very little shade in the kitchen area, and the site does not feel like a typical Boundary Waters campsite.
The landing is very easy, with a nice gravel area, and you could probably land a canoe in several places around the campsite. The main camp area is just slightly raised on a grassy hill, with the kitchen out in the open. There are some jack pines and young white pines near the shore, but they are far enough away that they do not shade the kitchen or help much with tarp setup.
Behind the kitchen, though, there is a small group of spruce and white pines that works well as a shady hangout, hammock area, or tent spot. I found four good tent pads and four maximum tent pads. Two of them are clearly good and look used, and the other two could also hold tents. I visited on a cool day, so I appreciated the sun and the grassy hill, and I liked the view of the little bay. This site may not be for everyone, but I enjoyed its open, grassy feel.

We grabbed this site because every other site in every direction was filled by 1:00! Small site, no view, and the kitchen area is out in the open. There were one or two decent tent pads, but the site was small and we were more crowded together than we prefer. Not a terrible site, but it felt like the leftovers.

Not great. Kitchen area has been clear cut to oblivion. Two very marginal hammock spots available. One, maybe two tent pads. View is of a marsh and a burn area. Coolest thing we found on this site was some moose poop on the latrine trail (I guess he didn't make it in time).

No real relief from the sun and you'll need poles to make a tarp work.
But decent swimming, decent tent pads and Kitchen area.
