8/5/2014 - The site is in a burn area and is covered in matted long grass. The landing is OK. The tent pads are a little slanted. One also might have a widow maker over it (I didn't look very closely).
5/28/2026 - I stopped by to check out the site after first visiting it 12 years ago.
The landing here is pretty decent. It is about ten feet wide and shallow, though there is no real canoe storage, so I might need to pull the canoe all the way up into the campsite. From the landing, I walk up to the site, which is set back a little and probably about eight feet above the water.
The kitchen has a pretty good view out onto the lake through a narrow window. The rest of the campsite is surrounded by trees, with a mix of white pine, cedar, spruce, and jack pine. There is also a long, narrow area on the north side of the kitchen, but it is too rocky and slanted for tents. It might work for canoe storage or for sitting out of the sun.
The tent pads are the main limitation. I only found one good tent pad, and even that one is small, so it would work better for a small tent than a large one. Another larger spot looks like people have used it, but it is slanted, lumpy, and rooty. Behind the kitchen, there may be a better spot if a log were moved, but there also appears to be a large ant hill under that log.
