BWCA Campsite 1469 on Strup

This is a decent campsite, especially if you want seclusion. It is on the west end of Strup Lake, away from the main travel path on the east end, and it faces away from that route, so I would not expect to see many people down here. The landing is pretty good. You can parallel park the canoe along the grassy shoreline, unload there, and store the canoe nearby. The fire grate is in the first grassy area next to the lake, roughly a 20-by-20-foot square that also includes the landing. The kitchen has a very nice, unobstructed view of the lake. In late afternoon or evening it may be in full sun, but earlier in the day there are some shade trees around the kitchen. The site feels like a young white pine forest, with a couple of mature white pines near the kitchen and many smaller ones around, plus some spruce. The tent pads are in two separate “bedrooms” reached by short trails from the kitchen. One bedroom has one good tent pad and one place where another tent could squeeze in. The other has one good tent pad. In all, I am calling it two good tent pads and three maximum tent pads. The separate tent areas are raised a little off the lake and screened by brush and spruce, giving them a nice separated feel.

Small but serviceable landing. Fire grate area is small and leaves a lot to be desired. However there are a couple of very nice tent pads. Would need to be creative for tarp setup.
