Surprisingly great site. Landing is in a little bay and I would consider it the perfect landing, huge plus compared to some of the other sites we stopped at. . A bit of a hike up a hill to get the camp is really the only downfall. I was worried about the "views" when arriving to this site but honestly it didn't take away from the experience at all. Views of lake are some what limited but the large pine being the center piece of camp was a great trade off. This site was not our first choice but after a windy/ stormy week this site was perfect. We weren't blasted by wind and the coverage provided great protection. I could see the bugs being bad here but we only dealt with black flies. Great fishing close by as well as the falls. Id consider this one of the top options on basswood. Plenty of hammock options and tent pads. A few tent pads are downhill and i could see that being a problem during a heavy storm but those are all overflow tent pads so might only be an issues with a really big group.

It was getting dark after a very long day fighting the winds all the way through Basswood Lake from Moose and Wind Lakes. Our preferred site was taken (the smaller island to the east), so we just took this one as the next closest one along our route. The path up the hill from the landing felt steep, and I don't remember much view. It was also quite buggy, since the site was surrounded by dense vegetation, which blocked any chance for a breeze. It might be a nice place to hide from storms coming from the southwest. We're not planning to come back here again.

1534 was not our first choice, but basswood was busy enough that it was all we could find. Group of 8 with 7 hammocks and one tent. Plenty of hammock trees, but it would have been tight if we needed all tents. pretty close to good fishing spots, and not far from the falls. There was even a nice flat spot to play KanJam

https://youtu.be/dq-q4D5Dz_8 Only 2 of us stayed, but would be ok for bigger groups. You can see the site in the video. Plenty of room. Fishing from this spot was mediocre, but trolling around the island was productive. Made it to Basswood Falls from here.
