This site is much worse than the one to the north. It clearly doesn't get much use, as the trail to the latrine is overgrown, and there are plants growing in the latrine. We arrived just before sunset on a long, cold, wet day, because all of the previous campsites were taken as we passed through the Lower Basswood Falls Area. If it wasn't so late, we would have kept going. I'm wishing we would have gone to the site north of Wheelbarrow Falls. The landing is tricky, but we were able to load and unload while keeping our feel dry. There is a single tent pad, not level, very small. We could only use one of the doors of our tent, and we had to partially block the trail to the latrine. There are only two large trees in the site, and they are too far apart to be used for hanging a hammock. They were both usable for hanging a bear bag. The kitchen has no shade or shelter, but the site was facing away from the wind, so this didn't end up being a problem. There is no seating at the kitchen, but since we didn't start a fire anyway, we used the grate as a table, and the adjacent rock as a rough stool. It gets full sun in the morning, which ended up being good for us on a chilly morning. It's not the worst site we've been to, but it's on the list. It is close to the rapids, so we made a quick escape in the morning. It would probably be quite buggy when the weather is warmer, unless there was an easterly wind. Wouldn't recommend this site; don't plan to return.
