We ended up at this camp site after we rejected the eastern site at the falls as being too buggy, and being too loud for my wife (the western one was occupied). This site was a little less buggy due to the breeze cutting across the front of the camp site, which really sticks out into the channel. There is no privacy at all, but we got lucky, and there weren't too many folks making their way through the falls area. We had some great nature theatre just across the channel when a hawk swooped down on a stoat that was lying in wait for a merganser family paddling by. Everything happened so fast. We tried to position the tent for morning shade, but it only lasted so long, and the entire campsite got warm quickly, and it got buggy, anyway. There are better sites for staying for days, but this one is good for preparing to cross the falls.

Site looks to be bland while paddling by but is a really nice spot - a lot of tent pads to be found and trees for three maybe four hammocks.

Great Site! Would stay here again! Love the swimming here, I could even do a shallow dive off the rock facing north but there was good walk into the water on the East. The open view of the river with glorious tall pine trees was beautiful. It was breezy at time which helped with the bugs. Firewood is very picked over but the kitchen area was decent. Some good shade during mid day but no shade in the evening. It was very hot while were were there. The tall pines were good hammock trees for us.

We really enjoyed the swimming off of this site. The landing (on the East) is easy. There are nice views to both the West and East. Much of the site is a bit exposed which helped with breeze and bugs, but also was intense in a storm. Kitchen seating is small and there wasn't much for trees there for setting up a tarp.

Breezy site with good views. Stayed here two nights. Lots of other paddlers looking for this site so get there early. Kitchen area was a bit of a mess with limited seating. Looks like someone had abused the kitchen area. Best landing is on the eastern side of the camp. Can hear both falls when the wind is not blowing. Can be a cold camp in shoulder season as there are limted wind breaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-F-zBrI0Jc

A really pleasant spot. Breezy, with nice views of the lake. We checked out the pictographs (onCrooked Lake) in the morning. Had to paddle to find firewood though.
