We decided not to stay here, which was a mistake, because all of the camp sites further on through the Lower Basswood Falls area were taken, and we ended up having to get past Wheelbarrow Falls to find a site. The kitchen is okay. We've gotten spoiled at other sites with huge stone shelves, which this site does not have. It has some low seating but, again, nothing special. It has great views of the little adjacent bay and the island that blocks the view (and noise) of the falls. It is also far enough away from the main channel that the traffic going by isn't directly in front of the site like it is on sites further north. There is currently a fallen tree blocking the path to the latrine, but it is passable. The take-out is a little tricky. There are a couple great trees for hanging a food bag. It's biggest problem is that none of the tent pads are level, and some of them have roots or stones in the way. There is generally lots of space at the site, including space for hammocks or clotheslines.

Stayed here one night at the start of our trip. had a tent pad and a spot for a hammock which is all we needed. Good top water fishing in the cove by landing. Didn't see anyone else but we got in late and left early.

Stopped here for lunch. Decent landing, some shade, but fire grate area is small and very exposed to sun and weather. Didn't seem to get much use but a nice enough site I think?

Ended up staying here because all the campsites closer to Lower Basswood were taken, but I was glad it worked out that way. Had a nice rocky landing and a great view, with nice rocks for drying and hanging out. The grumper trail was pretty muddy and somewhat close to camp but this was a nice site, an easy paddle to the great pictographs just to the north-a must see.

Good news: lots of open space, and good tent sites. OK Landing. Bad news: kitchen just OK and a bit pinched. A little buggy (would be really bad in summer). Lots of canoe traffic. Bonus: good fishing nearby.
