Yes, the excellent swimming beach is the defining characteristic of the site. As others have said, it's probably the best beach in the BWCA. The kitchen area is enclosed by trees, so lost the breeze earlier than the beach area, and didn't have the nice view that the beach does. Hanging the food bag required some rather complicated rigging between two birches. The entire site is sandy, no way to escape grit on everything (good drainage, though).

I did not get to visit the site since it was taken. It is a very large, sandy beach that wraps around a point. The tent pad area also looked very sandy.
