We lucked into this site after struggling to find the camp site we were looking for further to the north. The landing is very nice, and the site had multiple levels. We put our tent on a soft, sheltered bed of pine needles on the "mezzanine." The kitchen level was at the top a rock cliff with a couple of trees hanging precariously over the edge that made for a fun hammock hang with plenty of shade. We could hear the motors from time to time, but they didn't go buzzing by the site. There was a huge block of concrete that made a nice bench. A grouse walked through our camp site, and didn't seem to mind us following her for a while. We probably could have caught her had we been in the mood.
UPDATE: We stayed at this site again in July 2025, and it's as good as ever. There are two concrete benches next to the fire grate (which is facing "the wrong way"). We had a large group, so one of the tents ended up near the kitchen area, but it was otherwise very comfortable with plenty of room for us to spread out hammocks, clotheslines, etc. There is a perfect bear-bag-hanging tree between the kitchen and the take-out. The latrine is a little close to the mezzanine, so we goa little smell wafting down in the cool night air. We had so much wildlife around the site, including a family of otters, and a family of bald eagles. My wife caught three fish just off the island to the northeast. Yum! Unfortunately, someone has cut down a jack pine that now blocks the original path between the kitchen and the mezzanine levels, so there are new desire paths being worn.
