BWCA Campsite 1687 on Clearwater

This campsite has a long sandy beach that runs along the shoreline, which makes for a really nice landing and an easy swimming spot. The beach is the clear highlight here. The campsite itself is set back from the water and is fairly sheltered, with a short path leading up from the beach. There isn't much of a lake view once you're in camp, as it's surrounded by trees on all sides. The site feels pretty basic - essentially a clearing in the woods. I found two good tent pads, and there's a third possible spot hidden behind a downed tree just north of the kitchen area. It's not obvious at first, but it's usable once you spot it. Overall, this is a decent fallback option if better sites nearby are taken.

Maybe not a beach but, still a sandy landing which obviously provides a great swimming spot. The main kitchen area is rather ho hum and would be rather cramped with a larger group but, it is fairly sheltered. There are a couple of really nice grassy tent pads just behind.
